People have become very accustomed to drinking bottled water. Most people do not give much thought to their decision to drink bottled water but the ramifications are larger than you might think.
The two biggest reasons people cite for drinking bottled water are health and convenience. The purpose of this post is to get people to understand that, in most cases, bottled water is not any healthier than tap water (in fact, tap water may be healthier) and that convenience comes at a high price in its impact on the environment.
On this site, you will find eye-opening facts about bottled water, the effects bottled water consumption has on the environment, suggestions for alternatives to drinking bottled water, and links to additional resources and information.
Bottom line: Drinking bottled water is a choice and I am all for freedom and choice. However you should at least understand the environmental and economic impacts of your decision to drink bottled water. My hope is that, armed with this information, the next time you reach for a bottle of water you will ask yourself if there might be a better alternative.
